I have a 1969 Series 2A last of them as lights in the wingsit is the straight six engine with an ENV rear axle. Syncro on 3-4 and fairey overdrive

It is not the one ton but apart from the higher suspension everything else is as per the one ton?

Here you go, its a 109 1969 3 owners, myself, my pal and the first owner who bought it and took it all over Africa in the early 70s. Only thing different to stock is perkins prima to make it useable with the cost of fuel, so would we all agree it is an ENV rear axle there?

Spec is

1969 Series 2a
2a original gearbox with Fairey Overdrive from new
Parabolics on the front
Perkins Prima Engine conversion
BFGs
stainless exhaust

Tidy looking vehicle, nice to see another 6 pot owner on here. I'm currently in the middle of some structural repairs on mine, nearly ready for it to come out of the workshop!

Only thing I did have to do was put a perkins prima engine conversion in, 18mpg was not feasible, I now get 40+mpg

Straight six did run like a swiss watch

Here is my conversion, do you approve?

Hmm interesting, would like to know if the factory fitted the env.

Pretty sure it was factory fitted, neither myself of mate who owned before changed it, then there is the original owner who took the vehicle all over africa, he spec'd the vehicle in 1969. He took alot of time with bash guards and the like fitted for his trip. In 1969 it was a factory option on the 109 Six cylinder to have the ENV axle, Sailsbury took over when ENV went out of business in the late 60s

I missed the bit about the engine conversion, sigh, one less 6 pot. The derv engine looks like a tight fit, bet it doesn't sound as good as the 2.6!

Nope not a tight fit, there is about 12 inches of free space between the engine and radiator.

To keep the straight six would have meant I could not afford to run it, the Perkins produces 81bhp while the 6 produced 83bhp

The fuel consumption was the biggie 40+mpg over 18mpg, does not have the same noise but I like it when the turbo come in, its a bit like an intercity 125 plus it will easily do 70 with overdrive
