I have just purchased some new door seals for the front of the series 3 , the previous seals were in separate sections and riveted onto the frame , I purchased these because I had new sides and they didn't have seals on , these seals are in complete sections should I spend ages drilling all the perfectly good remaining rivets out of seals and replace what looks perfectly good or shall I just cut the relevant part out of the new seal and rivet it on ?

Hi,
From my experience if the new seals are one single piece type as fitted on defender , they should just push on , some older s3 have a lip on the door frame , which needs to be removed , I did it with a dremmel for neatness , did that on my first S3 which was a 1978 , however it seems newer ones like my current 1983 don't have the lip and they just push straight on with just a bit of trimming around the hinges

I've got a 82 so hopefully it will be OK , the annoyance however is that I will need to drill out all of the individual rivers holding the existing seal in and they appear approx every 2 inches so there are about 50 on each side !

I've cut the defender seals and just replaced the sections that fitted along the sides , they fit very well , I looked at the condition of the defender seal and it wasn't as good as the separate pieces that were on already so I wasn't prepared to do all the work for an average result ,

Thanks for advice
