Defender bonnet spare wheel carrier instead of series one?

Can't find the answer on previous posts, but can I fit a defender bonnet spare wheel carrier instead of a series carrier. Only because its a fraction of the price.

I don't see why not, I have been thinking about doing that, I got a 3 pronged one for my 110 years ago but never fitted it and later sold the 100.

looks a lot less hassle than fitting a series one with all those rivets

defender bonnet night be a bit thicker than the series so a metal plate to spread the load might be a good idea
