Clutch release bearing and clutch questions

So do I actually need the plastic retainer staple? My clutch kit didn't come with one, and from what I've heard, they usually drop out anyway.

I finally got round to re-installing the clutch arm.

Is everything there that should be (except the bearing)?

It's been a while since I disassembled everything, so I just wanted to double check.

I should hopefully be getting the reconditioned engine back soon. Once I have that, I can start the re-assembly process.

It mentions in the green book that a sealant should be used between the flywheel cover and bellhousing. There wasn't anything like this on there when I removed it. Is it necessary or not?

Another question here: What do I want to torque the engine to gearbox stud nuts up to?

This isn't listed in the green book as far as I can tell.

I did manage to find "clutch cover bolts" in the manual. This gives a figure of 18 to 25 ft lbs. This works out to 24 to 34nm. Have you found that they need to be torued higher with experience?

thought you meant bell housing nuts, 25 ft lbs is right for clutch cover

Sorry I did mean bellhousing bolts. The manual doesn't have a torque value for the engine to bellhousing bolts, which I find surprising.

The clutch cover was done already with the reconditioned engine. I just need to torque all the bellhousing bolts up.
