Hi I am new here and while I have been reading a thread before registration I can't find it now. so forgive me if this has been repeated time and time again.
Problems
Recently started to not accelerate taking ages to get to 30mph, not losing power if already running ok, juts this trying to get speed up, if I clutch it it will rev as high as I try it, but feels like its either not getting fuel or its flooding. not all the time just may do it for a while then once speed is up to around 50 and I have then had to brake or something the next time its fine.
Couple of days ago it started to make a knocking noise when idle, today it is juddery like its not running on all cylinders its a 2004 diesel and really noisy when accelerating. I can feel through the gearstick that is juddery too. Partner has no idea really but at first with the noise thought it may have been thrust bearing, now there seems to be a multitude of problems and we'rte not sure if they're all the same thing.
Its been smoky since I put fuel cleaner in it about 2 months ago, I have recently been told the petrol station I fill up at has been done for putting Methanol? in their tanks and a friends lorries have all had to have new injectors.
I am a lady that doesn't have a great deal of knowledge in cars, but do have a BIL that runs a garage, but he does specialize in gearbox and clutch and don't want to ask him to look as he is owner not mechanic, but he means well. I am happy to let his mechanics change parts, but would prefer to know whats wrong before dropping it off with them.
