Have a KV6 Freelander in brazil with scraped engine (steel liners moved). Engine was entirely rebuilt and >4k pounds burned!!!
Now the engine is smooth, powerful and silent - impressively good!!! However, it may not last long! Discussing with local LR enthusiasts had a feasible and potential experiment with the thermostat valve. Do anyone kept it open or modified it to not close 100%???
hypothesis:
minimize thermal shock
avoid thermostat valve malfunction (e.g. open only with too high temp)
drop overall operating temperature
Note: Brazilian winter reach +10C for few weeks. the rest of the year is >30-40C.
