300tdi lift pump spacer

Can any one tell me if my 1995 300tdi defender 90 needs a spacer for the lift pump or not please. I have put a Delphi pump on it with no spacer and it seems to work fine but a mechanic friend of mine says it needs a spacer or the arm will break.

No spacer that I have seen on my 300tdi disco-maybe mine is missing one as well-did you take a spacer off when you swapped pumps?

no spacer needed, spacer was used to fit the long levered pumps on early 2.5s
