NO spark

i have a v8 in my racer wiring is crap but i have 12v at the coil no spark output from it though. i have the later type dizzy with the 2 signal wires coming back to the coil. i have tried another coil and still no luck. any ideas???

I take it its electronic ignition then ? got any pics of the dizzy ?

no sorry i dont. its the type with the small balck box on the side if thats any help.

You'll need to check the ignition amplifier is working. Also check resistance of pick up in the dizzy and that the air gap is correctly set. If you do a search I seem to think I posted the test procedures not that long ago.

im running a 4 barrel carb so no efi to worry about just cant get a spark can someone tell me how to test the ignition amplifier. ???

once you have found it put the links up for lazy people like me to find , I wouldnt mind knowing. I normally just test it by swapping it lol

I had broken wires/short circuit at the ignition amp where the insulation had split and was grounding to the braided sheath.

Worth checking!

Otherwise, the ignition system is very simple, if it ain't the plugs, leads, or coil, it's the dizzy or amp, or any of the LT wiring in between it all!

Also check you have a good earth. I once had a problem where it was getting enough earth for everything but the coil/amp.
