Hi All.

When I come to my 1996 300 in a morning, I have loads of power in the battery.

Glow plugs light and go out.

I crank the car over, but it won't catch. As soon as I release the key, it stops - refusing to fire.

I have tried holding it on the key with no success. The only way to start from cold is to hold the throttle down and then it does start.

This is not a good idea when cold!

Any ideas? It reminds of the ballast resistor fault on old Cortinas - I am assuming that the Disco does not have one!

Thanks in anticipation, John.

You have lost me??

I searched the site and couldn't find the answer???

Does anyone have/has had a similar issue?

Thanks, John.

Una vita - vitate (It is supposed to say One Life-live It)

It could either be Italian, Latin, or a spelling error.
Italian: "vitate" is no such verb, probably means "vivete"
Latin: "vitate" means "avoid," but the person did not mean that.

In my humble opinion is is loosing pressure in the fuel system and just by revving it with the starter it does not built up enough in order to start.
Giving a pull start revs it continuously and pressure is there,it ignites then.
Try to check all connections in the fuel system, renew copper washers, bleed for air and hope it will help !
cheers,
Tibby
