Re: porus paint colours.
Black absorbs heat and so may suffer from overheating in Summer (believe me I know) most red cars fade. nit sure about white paint though all paints of the same type are made form the same ingredients just different pigments added.

There is something in this. You do see it that some colour paints protect longer than others. Why I don't know. Better handling of heat, better handling of UV, or is it that the ones that don't cover well have to go on thicker so you have a better barrier?
At the end of the day the body shells of most cars are galvanised, so that handles the rust aspect. I understand that a lot of car paints are water based now instead of Cellulose.
Metallic paints have a lot more clear coat on them (to my understanding anyway).
But the colour of any car will stay nice if its polished and waxed, at least twice a year and definitely before the winter and the salty gritted roads.

Re: porus paint colours.
The car paint gets brittle if it is frequently heated then suddenly cooled. The paint loses its flexibility and elasticity causing it to break in small cracks, at first. The more it is subjected to heating and fast cooling will make the cracks bigger and deeper.
so is a black car is gunna "leak" quicker in the sun??
