Default Shocks replacement

Hey mechanics and enthusiasts! I'm pretty new to this. Here goes...
I have a 91 Cherokee Laredo I6 w/ 3"lift, 31". I love it, but I'm new
to it. I'm about to upgrade the shocks to some stiffer Doetsch nitro.
It sounds like a really simple job, but I'm no mechanic. As far as I
can see on the back shocks its just a few bolts... do I even need to
jack the Jeep up? what about the front, can I just take one tire off
at a time and trade 'em out?

Default Re: Shocks replacement

I'm not familier with that Jeep, but I don't think you will need to jack it
up unless you need to gain access to the mounts. Be aware that gas filled
shocks will extend when the load is removed!! The new ones probably came
with bands around them in order to contain that stored energy. The first
time I removed the shocks on my '99 Dodge I goofed and had to fight the
shock to prevent it from pushing against the brake lines at the master
cylinder. It could have become very expensive if I hadn't seen the top of
the shock moving toward those brake lines!
