I wanted to pass on some info that saved me a lot of money. I have a
Range Rover 4.6 HSE but these tips should apply to most A/C Compressor
and Clutch's.

Symptom: A/C Clutch was not engaging.
Testing: Tapped the clutch while the A/C was on and the car running,
Clutch engaged A/C worked great.

Note: Land Rover wanted to install a harness which would increase the
voltage to the magnet so the clutch would kick in. $500.00 bucks.

Solution: Removed the clutch plate and took out the little washer
(spacer). Took all of 15 minutes. Now the clutch plate is close
enough to engage. Works great. Mechanic said it should last another
100K miles :)

Good luck.

I surely hope electrical problems on British vehicles would stay limited to
British vehicles....)
