Hi from Staffs

Hi all,


I have joined the forum and I don't even own a Land Rover....yet!


Not sure why, but I can't get this idea of owning a Defender 90 out of my head, keep seeing them everywhere and thinking to myself I fancy one.


I already own a VW T4 and motorcycle for general bugging about but this idea just won't go away dammit.....!


So, is anyone going to talk me out of getting one....? I don't fancy any of the other models just the Defender 90.

I shall now reinforce your idea of getting a Defender 90.....

They're great, get one!

But seriously, they will hold their value if you look after them (gain value in most cases), amazing fun to drive, you can see over walls and hedges... and other stuff too!

What type of 90 you hoping to get, have you done much research? What you hoping to spend?

Defender 90 / 110 / 130 - Land Rover Zone

Thanks FMog, to be honest I am only just starting to find out which models are out there, and which ones seem to have the most problems.
From a quick look on the forum I think a late 90's model seems ok, I am more concerned with road tax, insurance and running costs as it probably won't be my main drive (maybe...).
I would spend a little more knowing most of the common issues are sorted as I am no welder!!
I will be checking out the Defender section before making any decisions....

Budget is key, ones with galvanised bulkheads and/or chassis are available. I have a 300tdi , most diesels average 30'ish mpg and I think my road tax is £220

I wonder does the road tax change whether there are windows and seats in the back or not (station wagon model??)
I had better move these questions elsewhere as this is the "introduce yourself" bit!

Mine has got windows but no seats but I think it will also depend on the vehicles age, check on autotrader as they usually have the road tax prices or put the registration into the dvla website
