Disco TD5 smoking Turbo

Hi Guys, My disco runs like a dream but recently my turbo has twice in a month left a massive smoke cloud while losing power and entering some kind of tick over mode. after switching off and waiting for a very short while it fires up and runs like a dream! Any help would be greatly received with work, 3 kids and two dogs means the Car is major cog in my household

I'd remove most of the air intake, checking the hoses for breaks/splits, and the air filter for blockages/leaves etc. Similarly remove the intercooler hoses and check them inside and out. Ideally they need to be cleaner than a clean thing, mostly you'll find them gunked up. A bit of gunk is normal, lots of oily mess isn't ..
