Just looking at some new tyres for my landy and have the chance of some general grabbers, theyre 235/85R16c. The landy is fitted with 16'' freestyle alloys at the mo with 235/70R16 on at the mo.

What does the C mean at the end of the rating?

Thanks,

FFM

hmm.. i wonder if they will fit.. ? dont want to commit to buying 5 new tyres to only find out they dont fit (its a private sale so he probs wont know) They did come off a defender though

Tire code - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Load range
Load range on light truck tires indicates ply rating and load pressure (PSI). Tire pressure is also measured in kilopascals or bars. 1 psi is equal to 6.895 kPa. 100 kilopascals is equivalent to one bar. Therefore, 300 kPa is equivalent to 44 psi. Load Range
Load Range Ply Rating Load Pressure (PSI)
B 4 35
C 6 50
D 8 65
E 10 80
F 12 95

Right 1st off, what LR have you got? as the tyre's for sale are one of the standard Defender size's.

I think if its after the size, its C for Commercial, not C load range. Have a look on the sidewall for a max pressure - if its 50psi, its a C load range, if its 65 then its D, etc.

Hmmm well its defo after the wheel size and its definitely a C. The guy took them off a new defender he bought so i cant imagine that the tyre would be limited to such a low speed.. Hmm..
