Isn't that the lane near Rockely? If so, we did the same one...I may have even seen you out and about but in fairness I wouldn't really spot a Disco...

hi,
no i was on the road between little milton and little haseley..
does anyone live around me as i do fancy doing a bit of green laning, and obviously dont want to go on my own as thats asking for it, id rather tag along with people that know what there doing, if anyone is near that would be brilliant

I do laning occasionally, but usually with a bunch of leafers. There are some lanes that are too narrow for a Defender. Trouble with Oxon is that there are only a handful of legal lanes, but there are some still open, in spite of what some would have us believe.

hi, im in little milton have recently got a disco, looking to do some green lanes at some point to see what its all about. loving this snow very inpressed with hos capable my disco is :)

I was in oxfordshire yesterday. Spent 15 ****in hours getting from southampton to birmingham. The vast majority of it stuck on the A34 near oxford. Never seen such a pathetic attempt at keeping the roads open. No snow ploughs, no gritters, the cops making it worse as only they can. All compounded by the so called "proffesional" drivers getting their wagons stuck everywhere. Absolute bloody nightmare of a journey.

15 hours thats bad! oxfordshire didnt even try to keep the roads open. the same time i was on the ring road trying to help by pushing and towing a few cars to create a path for ambulance with some other guys.
just amazes me how people just sit there when they get stuck and wait for other people to do something.

Yep, little sign of any gritters or ploughs ove the past couple of days. Not really sure what the council are upto. I live by a main road and that is still covered in snow, as are all of the side roads. The A40 was covered yesterday, saw nothing to suggest its been cleared yet. I get the feeling heads may well roll at the council over this one...

Hey Gents, another Oxfordshire Lad here. Count me in if your up for a wee adventure. Tried a couple of short lanes near Wantage, but did'nt want to push it, being out on my own.

There are a couple of lanes in Wantage area, including a couple near Grove, and a couple near east challow that I know of anyway. There is also a UCR with a ford if you know where to look.

22900013a: The lane at Rockley, is that the one near Besselsleigh/Wootton? My parents live in Besselsleigh about 1/4 mile from that lane. I drove it on Sat and was dissapointed to see someone had beaten me too it, I'm guessing it was your wheel tracks I was following?

I know of only one near Wantage...

About three miles out of Wantage past the pay and play quarry/dump there is a sort of cross roads of lanes, only a mile or so long though. (Sorry no map to hand - I'm supposed to be working!)

As LiamC says, there are a few others in the area shown on the map. Can't remember what a UCR is but if its the ford I'm thinking of, its about 1/2 a mile from me, very tucked away :)

I know one nearish to Grove, going westwards from there which goes past the pay and play site as mentioned above. I don't know any others in that area though.

The one at Rockley leads you down to the A420, it may have been my tracks, but someone had come in from the Rockley end before me but turned left into a field half way down - I was the first vehicle up from the A420 end.

I could have done with one of you lot today, I got stuck on the A421 between the A43 and Buckingham, at least 4 defenders drove past, miserable gits, I was in an Iveco pickup towing a trailer, fine on the way there fully loaded, nightmare on the way back empty.

There hadn't been any attempt to clear the road at all which is a disgrace IMO

I dug myself out twice but as soon as I got moving no weight on the back meant it didn't go far.

eventually a guy in a freelander towed me 8 miles to the A43, without him I think i'd still be there.

Its a tough call...I *could* have spent all day (indeed, weekend) out receoving people, but getting food, getting warm and doing the things I originally set out to do had to eventually take priority. My mrs was freezing, and I had to get the doctors...its finding a balance I suppose. Of all the people I helped all I got was a thanks, so the couple of gallons of petrol I had used went unmentioned...not that I am too worried as I was happy to help, but I couldn't afford to do it all day long...

Hi fellas
Looks like there is a small gathering of oxfordshire based folk here. I have just started laning around the didcot area. There are several routes I have found that seem good starting points. The first one I tried went south out of blewbury toasted Compton but fading light forced us to turn back, night laning for the first outing would have been a little daft. My mate and I are often out around this area me in a 99 disco td5 n my mate in his frontera.
There could be scope to meet up over the Xmas period.
Also was maybe looking at going to the tv4x4 place near bradfield on the 2 Jan. The venue is oxleys shaw.
Have fun in the snow fellas
