Hubs wants to sell Pig:eek: and get a Disco:eek: I'm undecided:(
I love Pig, she makes me smile but she also causes me no end of stress with her mechanical neediness:eek: i think i have to admit she is not the best choice for a daily drive, it's possibly too much for her at her age and definately too much for my bank balance. she's petrol so limited in her offroading and not the most comfortable ride on long journeys, i doubt i could do a days offroading in her without needing a ride home in an ambulance:eek:
But discos are boring and common:eek: BUT.. and heres the thing thats set hubs off.. someone is selling a fully kitted g reg disco, which they say we could have for less than we paid for Pig, needs a new water pump(so does Pig) and has no tax or MOT but i think i could get him to MOT it:) we'd be able to play on the plains because it's a diesel and even i'd be able to cope driving it for a full day:eek:

what's your thoughts? ideally i'd keep Pig and have the disco but that ain't going to happen so i have to make a choice, i just don't want to let pig go and then regret it:doh:
oh and how much do you think we'd get for Pig, been told 2k but i think thats optimistic;)

I think you would regret it. Any LandRover is going to have reliability issues. Go for a cheaper Disco and keep pig. Convince yourself you can afford it with the savings in fuel and thermal undies

lose the series

agreed :p
as much as i love my series its just not an everyday drive tbh thats why i havent insured it my old man uses it,(now and again on sunny days):D

as for the disco there pretty good offroad very good if you dont mind spending some dollar and you can jump in it and drive home 300 miles if you desire something i wouldnt want to do in either my series or my 90 tbf:p

but as you mentioned they are comman but after youve spent some money on it getting it how you want it too look you will grow to love it;)

if i were you as much as you love your old series and they are great landys id get the disco:D

Dont let your head rule your heart unless the bank manager is knocking on your door. If you go with the Disco and your heart is with the series, it will be short lived. Perhaps a half way house is a 90/defender...

I used to run a series, now run a Disco and wouldn't go back, especially for off-roading regularly and being able to use it every day.

Don't get me wrong, I loved that old S3, but now I'd want an S1 that wasn't used too often, probably just locally and at shows .. but locally would also include Korc, Driffield/Manby/Newark shows and Peak District lanes ... ;)

I'm still torn, i just don't know if i can let her go  she's rather like one of me kids lol, drives me up the bloody wall sometimes but i love her really:D
i had intended to SORN her in july when tax runs out to give her some tlc, we were going to have to get me a cheapy runaround to go to work and farm in so perhaps we can works something out with mate to pay him a deposit on disco and the rest over 2 months:cool: now that would be a good solution if i can sell it to hubs and matey;)

don't sell the pig you'll regret it ! discos are ****e rusty pieces of crap tyat are equally as unreliable and even more so if modded........stick pig in a barn cover her up and come back to it when you can afford to :D

i think i would regret selling her,, now i just have to think of a way to get hubs to change his mind................ i'm sure i can think of something:lvlove-160:;)

Series are worth loads of money. I know because a chap that was trying to sell me 1 said so. He had a S reg 109 with fooked rear crossmember dodgy out riggers no footwell or floor plates in it, the exhaust ended about 3ft too short. Oil was ****ing out the handbrake drum. Props were fooked. Seats were ripped to pieces, & half the bell housing bolts were missing. I told him what was wrong with the motor and he said & I quote "Why don't you just **** right off if you don't wanna pay what it's worth" As I'd already offered him £300 for it I'm assuming he was expecting a bit more.:D :D
