So I`ve had an intermitant lose of power & misfire, today I noticed the crank sensor was loose or rather the plate it sits on,it`s kind of like a straight edged core plug,it`s been bodged before my ownership with what looks like black silicone! Anyone know what it`s called & how to change it ? It`s on a 1998 p38 4.0.

there are 2 systems lucas and bosche the crank sender mount differs so later bosche blocks often have earlier lucas mount bodged in

Ok I`ll bear that in mind although mine is the earlier Lucas,I only found it as it was getting dark so I need to pull the sensor out clean it all up & see what`s going on with it,I did wonder if any of the timing lugs may be bent or even missing on the drive plate due to the sensor moving about(it`s quiet loose!) so I`ll check those aswell & post the results, many thanks for the info James.

Might be as it goes,it did have an engine swap a few years back before I bought it,I guess I`ll find out soon enough, thanks.
