I just spent a couple of hours researching what new battery to get for my Disco. Mine's been struggling with the cold weather and I've had enough of jump starting it!

I wanted something that would cope as I add bits to my standard Disco, so would one day work in a dual battery setup and power all the lamps, winches, fridges, kettles, ovens, cranes and anything else I decide to hang off it.

But in the meantime I don't really want to be spending too much money.

After quite a bit of searching on here and other forums I started to like the look of the Numax CXV batteries. After a bit of hunting I found the UK distributor and got an absolute bargain, well chuffed. Should be delivered tomorrow.

Numax CXV24MF

12V 86Ah, Cold Start Marine Cranking Amps: 1000A (equiv about 7-800)

Dual terminals - I like that bit!

He asked me not to post what I paid for on here as prices are constantly fluctuating, but it was considerably less than anyone else was selling 'em for, and that was delivered.

Hope this helps anyone hunting for their new battery...!

am i missing out on something here ?

on the basis that i generally only have a battery out of it's containing box/holder/straps to replace it (say once every 6 years) - what's the point of it having "comfortable reinforced carrying handles"

Suppose it better then having "razor blade cut you hand of while your lifting it into the holder handles"

Coz it's only £65 (that's 65) there is a strong chance that you might have to lift out the £65 battery and replace it with one that's more than £65 on a more regular basis that every 6 or 5 years!

thanks for enlightening chaps, i now feel deprived cos me 5 year old 45 quid tractor battery dunt have comfy handles

how will i ever manage ......

Yeah, was £65, that's sixty five poonds. How did you know - cyclick or something.

Now, how am I going to get the old battery out? It's got no handles, let alone comfy ones.

You could always spend £20 on getting some nice handles for it!

That's a new one, battery-handle-envy!

but if i got some handles, then i'd want a "integral state of charge indicator" - even thou the battery would be hidden in a metal box under a seat base and i've already got a battery meter as standard on me depender dash i still want one

wonder if it's got an integral iPod dock

You might need to turn your landy upside-down. Or if it's like mine the battery should just fall out the hole where the bottom of the tray used to be, with a bit of jiggling round.

Didn't notice that. And I was just about to buy some LEDs and diodes and stuff to make one.
