I've just had fitted by a company(no names yet) some 285/75/16 as recommended by the tyre company on steel modulars. I was running 33 12.5. 15's before and been told they were hard to get hold of so i decided to go with the alternative with new wheels. That was saturday. They put them on 16x8 modulars but they were no where near as offset as my previous wheels. Pulled away and tyre hit exhaust. Bloke said he'd never seen that before so I moved it over and left the fitter. Next problem when I got home was the steering. Tyres were catching on radius arm. Thought this was a bit funny but adjusted how far it turned but there wasn't enough adjustment. Quick fix took bolts out and got a mate to weld another nut on each bolt. Next problem went greenlaning today and tyres hitting exhaust again.I believe he has sold me the wrong wheels with not enough offset. Maybe 4 inches from wheel nuts to front. I need to know if you believe I've got the wrong wheels and what I should be using. I'm obviously very disappointed in what I've been sold and i was told ther wouldn't be any problems.advice and help needed.required.:mad::mad:

Defender all lifted. Can't you get more offset wheels. Never had spacers before and I'm now running a narrower tyre and got lots of problems.would you go back to tyre fitters and say they need to put it right. It was there recommendation.
they must have based there recommendation on info you provided them with?

and im sure they should have told you about offset rims and non offset rims its not the fact of the tyres being narrower its the rim there on

I wanted same size as I had but he said I could have same running diameter and slightly narrower that I wouldn't notice and new rims for less than just tyres of my original size. Sounded good and as Id never had problems before I went for that option. It's only since I got home I've encountered all the problems. Why should I buy spacers when it worked perfectly alright before.tyres would fit if they were on the right rims. Need something to tell him as I haven't got a clue what I'm looking for.

difficult one that then..

have u still got your old rims/tyres?

i would say that you want a refund as the new tyres/rims arnt suited to your vehicle without further mods
and you are gonna fit your old wheels/tyres back on

or see if they are willing to fit the bill or half the bill for spacers,,your call

That's definitely a good idea. I will try that but not sure how I'll get on. Other people must be putting these tyres on defenders. Wonder what there doing. Maybe I should put this thread in defender section.
