Hey Barros,

Whats the security situation like in Mauri lately? after the kidnappings on the Mauri/Mali border recently, people have been quite twitchy about visiting the area. Did you go far into Mauri? or stay north?

I stayed north in the "triangle": Nouadhibou, Atar, Guelb er Richatt, Akjoujt, Nouakchot, Nouadhibou.

The security is better than last year (frebruary 2009). The are more mobile brigades of the police in the desert intercepting people and demanding papers.
When in the "train track" at 5pm a mobile brigade asked me "where are you going to sleep?" and i answered in the desert, they "obliged" me to sleep in the police squad of Tmeimichat, 1 hour of the position.

They want tourists back, because tourism is a good part in the economy.
