Just been watching the Range Rover Companion, which says that you can't shift out of Park unless the engine is running and the break is depressed. Mine doesn't require these conditions..? Any thoughts? Is it only for the American market or something, or has the catch gone?

Cool, that's what I suspected, just wasn't sure if the car was actually changed in any ways for them. The question of 'why...?' now comes to mind :p

Yankee construction and use regs, the regs also call for the doors to automatically lock when the car moves off and an interlock to prevent easy ignition key removal.

what for??? You can't remove the key while the engine's on (ie while driving) so what's the problem?

Traffic light hijacking was a popular sport in the US, stop at the lights, window open, guy reaches in grabs the key, I know it can be done as I did it to a tosser in a Porsche who carved me up, chucked his keys over the hedge at the next set of lights, he was not amused:rolleyes: The difference in the US was that once they had your keys and the car was effectively disabled, you had nowhere to go when they stuck a gun in your ear and told you to get out.

I don't know about everyone else but if I'm at lights I've got better things to do than keep my foot on the break, ergo I put it in park. Ah well, maybe it's helped a few people.
