Hi everyone, just wanted to show you my Rangie. I've just completed the L322 headlight conversion.

To anyone that is thing of doing this conversion I would think very long and hard first. I spent many hour doing research into it no-one seems to want to give anything way. Most people say only a little cutting is needed but this is not the case. I spent many, many hours with the angle grinder, there is a hell of a lot of cutting to do. Both the lights and the car.

I think if I knew exactly what was involve I would have thought twice about it but now that it is done I think it looks great.

the work looks very good on that one, i have seen em where nothing lines up and the shut line is all cock eyed.

i'm not struck on the look but, it looks like it should be there not butchered!

well done!!

now can we have some pics of the nitty gritty not the poncy outside please!!

I did'nt even bother looking that close.

It certainly looks very straight and well executed.

Well i have to say i was surprised, it look bloody nice, and i still matain the P38 looks better than the L322, I allways think the rear lights on a L322 looks like a convertion brought from Halfords.

You've done a grand job there Kelly

have you got a wire diagram as i,m about to do this to mine, and i,m fitting the rear circle lights too, plenty to cut lol

TIZ OK IVE DONE IT, bloody have to chop quite a bit to get them to fit like, ive also put the new shape front bumper on, and fitting the newer shape rear lights will get sum piccys when sorted out

Not my cup of tea, but looks like you've done a good job.

Noticed that Simmonites seem to sell all their 2nd hand P38's with this conversion already done.

Matt

well the front lights are fitted, super charger grill chopped and fitted bumpwer on but need to fibreglass the ends, what a carry on!!! its not as easy as i thought, and you will be suprised how much you have to chop here n there, i agree with kelly if i seen how much and what is involed think i would have thought twice, but since there in looks good, but having probs with the lights, side lights no problem main beam bit of a ****!
still got the rear lights to chop and fit think they will be a bit easier
alot of people seem to want these done but no-one seems to give anything away on how to do it and help on the wires, alot of people hum n harr about not likeing these done but each to there own and good luck to anyone who does it, after all the p38 is canny old now anyways

Hi.

Just had alook at the L322 conversion and as it was something i was planning, that looks like
a really good job (don't stare into too many shop windows).
When i was looking into it i thought about the insurance implications and, having been
reminded about the ones for sale from the dealers was thinking that if they have a bump
and the new owner doesn't realise they are upgraded the insurance company won't
cover the cost, or will repair it to standard spec.
I found this out when some one pulled out in front of me in my 200 Discovery, which had a
Hella spot and fog light kit fitted by the dealer (Non franchise). When they replaced the lights
they would only fit the awful mahoosive Land Rover fog pods and wouldn't rewire the spot lights
although they fitted them ( Franchise, i have never used this main dealer again).
Just would like to say make sure you tell them as we all know they like to worm their way out of
anything.

Is there anyone out there with a step by step guide?? You all say that everyones a bit hush hush about it, i have been thinking of doing it my self but i just want to know how much work is acually involved. on Suggs photo doesnt look like theres much modding done there.

any help??

i first seen the conversion on my friends range rover that he bought like it already done. after closer inspection who ever done the conversion smashed the rear of the light out to fit. how they dont cloud up i do not know. iv started cutting away the metal which to get them to fit weakens the slam, so going to weld sections back in to strenghin it up. im also putting the wings on. wheel sits a bit back but once suspension is up its not that noticable. now just recived the rear lights time will tell if they fit. the wiring is easy though iv got the l322 plugs and smashed the old lights to get the plug out of it. so made a small harness that plugs into the p38 to l322 lights.if anyone needs wiring i will post. theres only 4 wires needed. the ultra fine pins are for the headlight tilt only. two lives two earths easy as that.

Hello, did your conversion have hid/xenon lights and did you have problems with your message center? I ask because I bought a p38 with later lights that aren't connected, and the wiring in the l322 lights have all been cut out, problems!
