I called the garage this morning, and told them to connect all the wires which I pointed out to them. I then called 2 hrs later, and guess what, they have now a volt reading of 12-14. I said have you got a spark, and the answer I got was not yet. He said I am going to change the coil packs , which I informed them to do on the first day. but we will see.

now the spark could well be that it needs a re sync, after issues with the lpg. where do they have the voltage? crank sensor?

tell them to input the eka again, just to see if it clears any issues( sometimes does but ive only had lock type issues to clear.)

i would suggest another session on the computer, this time to reset the rf codes. once it has a valid code it will start. the coil pack will make very little difference as it was:

a, working before
b, unlikely to pack up alltogether just from disconnection of power.

they sure are clowns at the engine whorehouse!!!

yes thats right, whore house!!! seems the fcuk engines and charge cash for it!!!

Does this garage have Testbook, Rovacom,Faultmate, Autologic diagnostic gear ? ASK THE QUESTION ! if not I feel you will end up with a whole heap of new stuff that you dont need, a monster bill and a car that still dont work.

The guy that comes out has the full diognostic kit. He showed me, well I was plundering in his van, I asure you he is lagit it was a nova thingy, he had so much kit. One thing was a black ovel machine, he put a big chip/block in it then came up a full list of range rovers from 99 onwards then another menu was v8 etc. so im sure its ok. Im just waiting to here from the garage as they were trying a new coil pack.?

I don't doubt he's legit, but without the right gear you will not be able to read the security code from the ecu and then write it back to the becm. This is land rover specific gear. Although your range rover has an obd socket that any obd reader can read fault codes through, there is another layer that can only be accessed by the LR specific hardware. Without this you are on a looser.

Rick-The Pick..

Is your title correct, your a diognostic Guru, do you have your own kit. If yes how much would you charge to come down to the garage and take a look at the ecu etc??

thats if you do homers.

If i had a spare afternoon i would. The last time i had dealings with that place i smoked & stink bombed their offices & locked them in. This was before i had them in court. Are they still changing their name every year?

I only found out about their negative feed back by a customer, however I was in their yard, and my vehicle has every thing as they described . its only the fact their sparky, is a nice guy but has not much experiance with range rovers. what happend to you.

Rick the pick,

your right i questioned them today, and they said oh our computers wernt compatible. Would it be at all possible you could get a spare afternoon this week I wlll compensate you to come and reset this equipment. I am supposed to leave germany this week with my family, and have no vehicle . if you want to chat email me at my private email and I will give you my number or vise versa.

they are fcuking about, they will end up fcuking things up if your not careful.

if they havnt connected the plates in the right order there will/could be excessive air gap or no air gap. tell them to check this.

a quick look through the inspection plate should tell them if the air gap it too large and they would hear the crank sensor dragging on the ring (dunno its proper name) with the tabs on it if it was too close.

they are idiots. they need to get a computer on it that is compatible. without this they are ****ing in the wind. i wish they were local to me i would be down there now!

its infuriating that someone like myself, with no qualifications, can make more sense of this than what should be qualified mechanics.

stop them working on it and get someone in there who actually has a clue!!!

so, you want them to:

check air gap.

re sync it

check the car's drive is as it should be, if they havnt connected the g/box correctly and tightened it up without locating the torque converter correctly they could well have shagged the g/box too!!

i wouldnt ask them to fix my kids roller boots!!!

is he in germanland or uk atm?

if he is sat with the car, stop them immediately. watch everything they do and if need be use a hammer if they use a spanner!

tell them to take the crank sensor out and get a piccy up here so WE can see and tell THEM how to proceed!
