Default p38 abs fault traction failure

Hey folks,

pulled out real fast the other day and these 2 warnings came up together... abs fault and traction failure... now they are coming up every time I start the vehicle and press the brake.

abs light and TC(traction control I'm assuming?) light are staying on

any ideas?

Thanks,
Jerry

Wheel sensors first thing to look at. Getting the codes read would give you a better picture.

Could be as simple as the accumulator failed.

I had the same and it was my accumulator, replaced this and all ok now. But is also worth checking for codes :-)

If the ABS light flicks off and back on after start up at least you know the ECU is doing it's check and all is well, until you press the brake!.As the Wise ones have said once you get the codes resd i'm sure it will be a sensor or the accumulator. But don't quote me on that.

I had a similar issue with mine. It was the Accumulator, I had plenty of warning signs with mine though - ABS pump would go for a couple of minutes on start up & would kick in most times you hit the brake.
