Hi, just wanted to introduce myself as I'm new to LandyZone and new owning a Range Rover. I've always loved green laning and off roading and have had an off roader before just a cheapy Sportrak(i'll upload a pic). I devided to take the plunge having always wanted to own a Range Rover and a V8 and this is a first for both. Hope you like the pics I have, i'm collecting on the 5Th and can't wait although the 160 mile drive home will prove a little expensive....
I bought the Range for £700 and it has a load of history, 12 months MOT, LPG, roof rack was included which was a bonus, 2" lift, dislocating rear cones etc... its a 3.9i V8 Vogue SE Auto.

Anyway no doubt I will have questions to ask but firsty would love to know if anyone thinks i got a bargain? After looking at some of the ones going on Ebay I think I did.

Be great to hear back from you all.

Tom

:welcome2: Think the first 160 miles will be expensive? Rust bucket or not - hope you have spanners, deep pockets and sense of humor... (Shhh some here doesn't)

What i wanted/should have said you've come to the right place:rolly:

You'll need a thick skin as well as welding gear, eyes that can work in rust showers, the ability to laugh when it's gone t*ts up, bloody deep pockets for when the lpg packs up, etc. Welcome!! Beware Rangy ownership is addictive-just look at how many here have more than one! Sounds like mountains of fun at a bargain price-if there's any chassis left!

Ok so I have spanners and I think the depth of my pockets will be tested but from all reports the chassis is solid as it just passed an MOT and had the seals done and a seatbelt point, rear cross member fine, inner wings fine as are front footwells............ so I think a good clean and waxoil?? Anything else I can do to preserve the good metal?

And ok I won't post a pic.

I'm sure what ever problems it has/gets it will still be massive amounts of fun and just to listen to the V8!

Anything in particular I should check strait away?

Thanks for the vote of confidence........... I know buying this could be a slippery slope haha

put a pic up- ignore elsie, hes just upset cos last time somone took a pic of him it broke the lense :p

Have you picked it up yet?

There are still some good cheap classics out there, paid £750 for mine just over a year ago, body panels have a few scrapes but not bothered as use it for green laning and trialing, but the chassis and steel body is in fantastic condition, only a little bit of rot to the drivers inner wing - will easy repair. I'm a member of the Yorkshire Land Rover Owners Club, other members say it's in remarkable condition. Couple of photos, with some mud!

hope the pick up goes well, my advice to you is simple- if it works drive it an enjoy it, dont go poking about for rust or try and tune your engine. when it goes wrong bang it on ebay and get another!
