light bulb left hand rear

doing my head in
bulb went the other day and now shows all the time on the dash as it should
it is the rear side light left side
been to land rover today and got new one however it wasnt in a box just gave it me over the counter.
when i got home i installed bulb and it blew straight away is it a dud buld e gave me or is it something more
any ideas

I have replaced all my bulbs with xenon halogen bulbs, they are brighter and last longer. Source them elsewhere...LR dealers are ripoff merchants!

I personally woudl check your fusebox, on a P38 the electrics are poor and maybe something is wrong with it....always check.

Also check the cables, maybe they are shorting somewher or rubbing on the chassis? clean the connectors?

Or simply LR gave you a duff bulb! Has been known to happen on more than one occasion!

Duff bulb, i've had a few of them lately from lr stores

Had similar problems on Left rear, for side lights reversing light and rear fog. All bulbs were fine, just the computer saying they had failed. Cleaned all the contacts and this cured the prob. Maybe you have 2 issues, duff bulb, plus slight corrosin on contacts.
