Starting your engine up when its HOT can be a nightmare. as most of us know with the DTI (BMW) Its an Old chestnut i know but the hunt goes on to find the elusive answer to this question, i did change the fuel pump, didn't make any difference, and all the fuel pipes too, still no difference also i was told it WASNT the COOLANT TEMP SENSOR part #STC2253

BUT.... what i did fine is a nice bodge (if it works) that is on Ebay, i have contacted some others who bought it from this guy and so far (i have had 5 reply's) they all said it worked for them, he has 2 neg feedback sorry, 1 neg and 1 neutral on the item, so i contacted them

1 the first guy never fitted it (he complained it was just a
"A relay and a Resistor!! Advised by RR dealer to throw in the bin" and his email to me is this

HI Tony

What you get is a relay and a circuit board resister, which according to the piece of paper that comes with it you are supposed to attach between a couple of wires on the main ECU. Similar to many of these EXTRA BHP items you see on Ebay. I am not saying it does not work, as I am not going to attach it, following advice from my local Range Rover dealers. They say I risk frying my ECU, which I am not willing to risk.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Ben

2 the other guy (this is his email to me)

Hi Tony
I asked a BMW Specialist Dealer to fit this mod.
The engine management system engaged "limp home " mode and would not allow the engine to accelerate above 1500 rpm. The engine diagnostic computer identified the fault as being the accelerator sensor but after replacing the sensor, the problem was still the same. The mod was disconnected and problem immediately resolved. Vendor was not interested when I tried to explain my problem, hence negative feedback. I am also £200 out of pocket!!!!
Best Regards
Chris
