been looking at wiring diagrams and the crank shaft position sensor is wired to the maf, now on this car the maf sensor's wires are suspect, there are 3 yellow wires on the maf side and they go into seperate connectors, i.e he's not sure which wires go into which wire on the loom side, unfortunately its not clear to me which wires go where!!!

anyone help on this?

check its a lucas one too as the only reason i can see that the wires have been fecked with is that someone has used a different or possibly wrong one although it worked previously!!!

as said on the phone, start it on lpg and if it does run then the maf wires are wrong!! which is what i'm beginning to think is the case!!!

i think that longer yellow wire that goes into loom side will be connected to another coloured wire.

that dint almost looks like a burn!!!

i would try it on gas mate, if it works it got to be the wires, maybe get a maf from scrappy when you got a bit more cash, if you cant find one i can prolly get hold of one with correct plug and post it up!!

it drove home with it like that the only diffrence is it never had the airbox and filter it had a stupid cone filter attached that was all clogged and rusty so i thought it would be better fitting the right thing again and got it off ebay and yes theres a filter in it that looks fine and its all tight

Oh, ok. Mine definitely says Sagem, but I have just bought a new one (at a hideous price). Supposed to be a genuine LR one. Perhaps they were badged Lucas on earlier ones?

I thought I got stiffed on mine, but I've not had half the problems that wrxfifer has had to put up with.

It does look like a burn, doesn't it! Very odd. That wiring looks horrible!

when the airbox was not there and it had the cone filter on it obviously it was just lying on the chassis banging about which may have caused this also?? its not happened since i got it, and it did drive home 200 miles like this without fault,
im not saying its not this it might be im only pointing this out also
