Hi guys,

Sorry if it's been posted before but the search from the forum app is not so good..

My dad is wanting to buy a Sport, He must have been impressed by my p38 ;) But most of them seem to have the kind of miles that worry me regarding gearboxes!

Have you guys experienced the same problems with the autobox on the sport as with the normal l322?

Any other problems to look out for or models to stay away from - of course we accept it's a range rover and will bring with it all the range rover highs and lows but just want to start with the best one we can.

Cheers all

from what i hear from my landrover mechanic friend the sports are far worse than the L322.

loads of suspension issues, handbrake failures, turbo (body off) jobs etc...

makes the problems we have with l322's easy to repair in comparison.

unless you can afford to pay a garage to repair it then fine :)

good luck bud

Heard similar stories about them too...
The one thing that surprises me though is the fact that I hardly see any of those laid up for repairs in the dealerships and workshops as opposed to the usual batch of freelanders and LR3s. Or is that they are sent straight to the breakers?:D

Thanks for the info guys! May try and steer him to an l322, the body off to replace a turbo seem a slight over sight on Land-rovers behalf!!

He could put I into a garage should it be needed I just like to try and fix stuff for him so he is not ripped off by main dealers etc.

He will get a fairly new one and an aftermarket warranty so here's hoping and finger crossed.

It strange you don't here so much about disco 3 reliability?

Cheers

Search electric handbrake failures. disco 4 came out well int the reliability surveys.
Body off was done for ease of maintenance supposedly.
