Hi everyone. I have a 2001 P38 and weirdly the drivers side electric seat only moves up and down electric, the forward and backward is manual using the front bar. Anyway, my daughter was twisting the switch round rather than pulling it up and down and it has snapped off - I have tried everywhere to see if I can replace just the snapped switch but no luck, I have also had trouble find a replacement panel/valence with just the one switch hole and switch, they normally have multiple switches for alot more electric positions than mine has. Does anyone know what is the best and cheapest way around this and if I buy a seat panel with multiple switches will they all work when plugged in??? Or will it still only be manual for front to back positioning. Thanks in advance for any help - this is seriously stressing me out.

Welcome to Landy Zone.
Nice of you to say hello and introduce yourself.

Have you tried the Range Rover breakers?
No, if you fit more switches they won't work as the seat won't have the motors fitted.
If you want this you'll have to replace the seat.

If you'd taken the time to say hello it might have been suggested that you put a location into your on-screen details. Then you might have attracted the attention of some-one who might have a spare switch kicking around their shed.

Mine has the same seat function, height only is electric I'm pleased to say.
A cheap fix if appearance doesn't matter is a centre off momentary toggle switch from the likes of Maplin.

Hi. Thanks for the replies.
Datatek - I am pleased mine is only height electric adjustable too but it is a headache trying to get one that only has that function on it - 99% that you see have all the electric functions so is hard to source.

Dogsbody - thanks for replying, even though it had the sarcasm which I did not expect as a newbie. To be honest I did not think people would really be interested in the me introducing myself etc??? Nice to know they would though.

If a broken seat switch is causing you this much grief I've got to wonder if a P38 is the right car for you!!!

That's just what I was thinking. Easily stressed.

It's not sarcasm , it's fact. If a little thing like a broken switch is 'seriously stressing you out' , what will you do when something more major happens?

It is not the issue with the seat switch it is the not being able to find one to fix it that is stressing me out - I must have such an uncommon seat ie only one electric function that I cannot find the same to replace - if I had all singing all dancing then this would have been fixed by now.
I thought the idea of Landyzone was to talk about are cars and get advice etc etc, not be judged

Wow are you in for a surprise (if you stay around). You obviously didn't read any of the boards or threads before posting. Anyway I'm bored now, off to somewhere less whingy.
