took it back to halfords, new guy said that wiring harness they sold me before wouldn't work so got a refund :/ they said they have nothing suitable and no aftermarket radios would fit. looks like im after a cheap second hand range rover headunit then

i remember seeing a link to a guide on how to fix the radio screen, apparently it was caused by a resistor coming loose or something... does anyone happen to have the link?

i just looked on ebay and the radios cost a bomb for what they are, i don't have money to spare i spent it all on insuring the beast as i am only 18 lol

Give Clarion repair service a ring. 01285 861861. They do a full refurb of your old unit for a set price of about £80, By far the cheapest and best way round your problem.

Left them a message, thanks for posting their number. Also left Roverville a message. Anybody know any aftermarket units which are a straight swap?

Or what wires I need to connect where to get an aftermarket unit working? I couldn't understand why I was getting any sound at all :/ all I can imagine is that the amps have a "remote on" lead and this needs swapping round but I'm not sure.

you can get an aftermarket radio to work bypassing the door amps and going straight to the speakers. its a crude fix but works. a little less crude would be to fit crossovers in place of the door amps (there's a thread here about that). all you need is high level output from your new head unit which most aftermarkets will have. you will however lose the steering mounted controls.

Thanks, don't really want to be pulling it to pieces myself so I think I'll just invest a new radio. Costs £100 to get mine refurbed, so may as well just get a new one. If anyone wants mine they can buy it off me lol but I am after a working one so if anyone has one for sale let me know thanks.

Still say get yours done, an after market one isnt compatable with the HK system so needs work to make it work properly, and getting a second hand clarion unit may only last a week! Spend the £100 (they can fit a 3.5mm jack for mp3s etc as well) and its all done. Its the best way, well i think so.
