my insurance is told everything..and they charge 150..and they dont care what i do to it..they say its under classic insurance..do what you like, just tell us..

so on that basis..he might be dead honest..

he might, but when I asked mine for a quote for basically my 1990 4 door on a 72 reg they wouldnt cover that many modifications, I think as under the vosa??? thingy it has to retain at least four of the specific(engine, chassis axels etc) original parts to be the same vehical or it needs a retest.

looking at his it has a different engine and then everything else is form a 1985 4 door apart from the vin tag lol

no offence to your beat mate, although you have as about as many original parts left as bigfoot the monter truck lol :p

Bit harsh calling it a ringer m8:D

Actually if it has the original Chassis, axles and gearbox, it would make the 8 points required to retain the original identity. All perfectly legal. Unlike a monocoque, the body has nothing to do with the identity which rests exclusively with the chassis.

To be fair to this guy, he isn't trying to suggest it is an original car, he calls it a tax exempt hybrid which seems like a fair description to me. I'd want to make sure it would still qualify before bidding though!!!

By the way, sounds to me like you need to change your insurer:D

Cheers

Chris

thanks MATE :p

thing is I am pretty sure it will be the axel chassis and box of the 85. anyhoo he isnt trying to say its original no but we have had a spate of these and this is the most honest of the naughty tricky classics we have had!!!

What...put the Vin plate and number plates from a 72 onto an 85 car and save all the hard work of a body swap!

I can't believe someone would do such a thing. That would be a..................................................RINGER:D

yep..if its just a vin plate change and not done the hard way...(and did i sometimes regret not doing it the easy way..lol..) then its a ringer..but he may, like i, have done it the hard way..but i see your point..

only way to be sure is give it the once over..i never buy motors off ebay without checking them over..cant trust no one ...
