Hello, I'm new here, been reading for a few days and it's been really helpful so thanks. I 've just agreed a price on a 1999 2.5 DHSE.

I would like to get the indicators changed to clear ones and get an integrated sav nat system fitted. I have no idea what I'm talking about really and just wondered if you could point me at the best place to purchase this stuff.

Bought the car to tow my horse trailer, can't wait to pick it up now, enthusiasm on this site is catching.

Thanks

Clair

Thanks for that - I have no no sense of direction at all and my horse will not appreciate me getting lost for hours on end - will purchase the tom tom - any advice on what kind of price I should be looking to pay for clear indicators?

Thanks C

Hello Claire,

The lights your after are called "2000 MY" clear lights as fitted to my Rangie (see my public profile to see a much larger pic).

These can be purchased from many retailers. Simmonites spring to mind but there are others. Kit costs £120 depending where you go. Its a DIY jobby and is fitted in minutes.

As for a Sat Nav system. I would replace your RR's current stereo with the NEW Siemens MS 4400. It will provide Sat Nav and is a simple way to upgrade any RR P38 without carving out chunks of dashboard or sticking a TOM TOM GO on your windscreen promoting you have one in your car "please come and break in".

You can buy one from ICE21 for £415 which I know sounds expensive but when you realise Pioneer's DVD Sat Nav Entertainment System - AVIC-X1BT all be it superb is a whopping £1300!

THanks for the links, they have everything I'm looking for. Collecting my fab new car on Saturday and I can't wait. I'll be the envy of everyone on my yard.

Id still go for the Tom Tom. Its cheaper and clearer and quick to hide from theives.

I have an Alpine sat nav but would rather use tom tom on me mobile.

...except you need to clean off the suction cup marks off your window each time you use it which is what thieves use to tell if you have one or not....

Using the Siemens 4400 system, its upgradeable and is part of the original dash by simply replacing the Clarion car stereo making it all neat and tidy and adds MP3 to your car stereo.

TOM TOM Go's are fine but are currently the hottest thing to steal from cars at the moment and they use the old tell tale signs to know which cars have them.

Normaol Tom tom has bluetooth an a ipod adaptor built in it.
Mine has

The new ones do your right, even the basic UK TOM TOM Regional does, but again these advertise you have one in car by the suction cups on the windscreen.

And at £180 that isn't cheap considering that's all it does....personally from a cosmetic point of view they are ugly and a unnecessary addition to your car when in fact a nicer tidier solution is the Siemens, Pioneer or Blaupunkt.

They all provide MP3, WMA ability and play CDR's as standard.

Again if your using an iPod as your MP3 player via the TOM TOM, you still need a blue tooth device to hear your music via the Range Rovers speaker system...that's potentially another £130 for a professional quality product.

There are a lot of pros and cons for both, but I really prefer the simple use of having a dedicated system that I snap the head units front panel on and away I go....and when I get out I simply detach it and no ugly plastic TOM TOM Go cradle messing up my interior.

Buy a Tomtom and a box of wipes to clean the screen!!!!!

You can take Tomtom from vehicle to vehicle, ya cant with fitted units!!!!!

That's assuming we earn solicitor money and have multiple cars! You rich git!

Now then, that was most uncalled for!!!!!

I dont have "multiple cars", infact im using one of me dads at the moment, Well until i decide what im gonna do with me life anyway!!!!!

Tomtom is a superb little device, you can jump in any car and its set up in under 30 seconds, And there only about £150 at the moment, better than £4-500 on a fitted unit!!!!!

I have an hp ipaq PDA with tom tom and when I leave the vehicle the PDA comes with me and the cradle stays on the screen. Been that way for 18mths and my windows only been smashed once. and that was when I popped into a mates and left the PDA (Mio at the time) in the cradle. was only in his house 10 minutes and when I came out it was gone.
