a lift WILL effect youe road handling. as stated ,mild offroad will not require lift. you can go upto 265/75r16 without lift. i suggest you get some decent boots in this size 1st. although mud terrains will also effect the road handling slightly...

Its a slippery slope to say the least. you cant have the best of both worlds, so its just a compromise as to how much road or how much mud driving you want to do.
