What went wrong??

My 2002 TD4 has been fine upto now. However yesterday instead of starting immediately first time, it took a couple of goes, sometimes whilst still warm. Today my wife broke down on the motorway where she lost all power and Land rover assistance took it to our local dealer. Any thoughts what the problem might be. Thanks for your help. regards.

Did the car run ok when it did start and when it let the wife down did it die altogether or did it go into limp mode (Unable to rev it).

Fuel filter or fuel pump would be my 1st port of call.
