Made me laugh too Nodge. Almost as much as the original asking price of 800 quid ;)

If the adhesive and the wood screws were considered an adequate fix, one wonders about other aspects of this FL, but it's a project, so all part of the fun ;)

Bet the rear door has rampant rust under that handle - and the likely cause of it falling off in the first place.
Yup, my thoughts too.

Probably more woodworm than rust :)
Ain't that known as tin worm?

When I got my Freelander I had this badge on the right rear...

The left rear had this badge....

The drivers side had this badge....

Funny enough, they was all fakes! Bloody devastated I was.

Still, at least you have a name for your motor :)

Apart from the rear door (OMG what was he thinking) it's a nice looking motor. If you're looking for a list of potential jobs to do have a look here. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/freelander-project-iv-bertie.303953/#post-3800176
BTW what's the mileage?

Thanks I'll have a good read of that. I did only pay £500 for the car so I think I've got a bargain. I was looking at another "spares repair" Commercial on e-bay at the time which was pre-facelift, higher mileage and described as having a failed rear diff. It made £598 on e-bay so this one with 2 weeks MOT seems a good buy...

The clutch was very spongy but this was cured by bleeding it and changing the fluid.

The mileage is 136k it drives well with a few minor suspension knocks but no drivetrain noise. It was sold as having no service history but under the passenger seat was the handbook wallet and it has full main dealer history up to 118k.

As you've all pointed out though - owned by bodgeit and his brother scarper. So a few bits of tidying up to do, radio wiring, matching tyres, exhaust has been decat'd using a chain saw etc.

Looks like you got a real bargain, nothing that can't be sorted with a bit of TLC. Well done.
