Hi,
i have done a search but with no results, i notice that my [and many other ] n/s tail lights on f/l are weaker than the o/side tail lights .I have swapped the bulbs over and replaced the weaker side but still same result .i wonder if this is a common problem and has a known fix or is it a bad earth or something.

Check the junction box and earth behind the trim on the near-side rear.

Its in approx the same position on the near-side as where the fuel tank cap is on the off-side, if you follow me. Trim is easy to remove.

Often a condensation area, due to air-vent to the outside being somewhere there too.

Thanks for the replies, i have just checked all the connections on the bulb and cleaned them up , i put an extra earth onto the bulb body direct to a good earth point but made no difference so maybe the weak spot is on the positive feed to the bulb i.e. in the junction box as singvogel suggests , so i guess thats my next job off with the trim when its a bit warmer !!!

You might have to wait until Springtime to get it much warmer! :(

I had a list of things to do on the TD4 but it's snowing here at the moment!! :(

The junction box behind the trim is where I picked up the feeds for my tow-bar electrics.

If you have a tow-bar perhaps you could check the voltage for the LH sides there.

What voltage did you have at the bulb?

Good luck. ;)

Hoo-ah!

Hi Singvogel,
Well just checked the voltage , lhs [bad side] 12.29v rhs 12.19v and towbar 12.05v so the plot thickens , have just sprayed some wd40 into the bulb holders ,but this voltage test suggests all well with the positive feed. Will try behind the trim asap but dont send the snow south of the border , still i do want to try the f/l in the white stuff for the 1st time and oh the wilko 2 stroke is still doing well ......all the voltage tests were with engine off by the way and its a new battery last week.

Yo - Freelander are great in the snow - it's like it isn't there. :D

No slipping, no sliding - it's very easy to become over confident actually.

They have only one draw-back in common with all LandRovers -

they can't jump over all the folks in front who can't move -

mostly because they still have summer tyres on!:mad:

Enjoy it when the white stuff comes your way. :D

update , seems you were correct on the removal of the inner trim because when i did so the earth was not even connected ! so made connection and all ok THANKS

Alan
