Hi! I'm new here. Registered in Hungary. I have a LR Freelander 1.8 Petrol Hard Top for 2000. VCU problem is. We are very expensive. I would like to improve the VCU. Is it possible? I can handle. Silicon oil type should be? Can someone help me?!

There are a few companies in the UK that will refurbish one for you, around £200.

I've just used one called Bell, there are others with a good rep as well.

I also used Bell when I changed my VCU a few months ago. I would also advise fitting new centre bearings at the same time (genuine and not cheapo imports) Bell charged me £260 including new bearings and postage, you would be best giving them a ring to ask about postage costs.

Take the advice of those above and buy a replacement. It's difficult to recondition your vcu yourself. The damage you could do to your transmission if you get it wrong is enough to make you want to buy a vcu from someone who knows how to recondition them. Less risk. Also change the vcu support bearings at the same time while it's off.
