well when i renewed my vcu for the 2nd time in feb .it came with new bearings ..and 2 mounths on there goosed :mad:so iv ordered some KGN one's form foundry 4x4.
thay lasted 2 mounths wtf why do companys skimp, still glad it's them and not my diff bearings as it sounded like it was coming from there.
had it on some ramps all 4 wheels up and my machanic use his stethoscope to listern and it the rear vcu bearing £32 set from foundry for KGN one's :D:D
my props been on and off more times than a tarts knicker's.

no i have not but iv read on here that GKN are the way to go

Be careful guys - GKN only make the metal frame / mounting - the actual bearing needs to be the FAG one, which I trust as being of the best quality.

I didn't know if GKN use alternative bearing suppliers, so I actually had the guy at Foundry4X4 open the GKN box to check the bearing in the red rubber centre moulding was indeed a FAG one. It was!

That was 12K ago - everything still fine so far.

Singvogel.

It's also possible to press out the noisy bearing and press in a new one at a saving on the OE prices but @ £32 !! Maybe not so worth it and of course if the rubber mount is tired obviously change the whole unit anyway!!

I don't doubt. But for 16sqiud each GKN From 4*4 All new

I think mine might be fecked too. When Bell changed my Diff mount, they guy (who was super helpful) did some jiggery pokery with around the VCU and the noise that was coming from it stopped, but he said something was loose. Whatever he tighted up has come loose again or is worn out. The quicker I get paid the quicker I can get back down there for a full replacement!

A failed VCU bearing can cause rumbling sound a bit like a faster wheel bearing that is really hard to identify where the sound is coming from. The bearings generally make a noise for some time gradually getting worse!! But at £16 each are a steal
