Been sat for a while.
Battery charged.
Tried to start it and with key in position 2 the starter engaged.

So to get round that we have fitted a push button for starting in the starter solenoid trigger wire.

Now key in position 2 and button pressed the starter engaged but car dosent start.
We have fuel pressure.

I noticed yesterday the fob button to unlock only dose drivers door.

My possibility's seem to be.

Immobiliser, but I thought that killed fuel pump? (I am waiting on an EAK from LR)

Inertia switch seems fine and like the immobiliser I thought that killed the fuel pump?

Crank position sensor.

Xyz on gearbox. with key in position 2 it shows correct gear in the the dash for gear leaver position.

Fuel stop solenoid (if the V8 Has one, where is it located?)

I have checked every fuse in engine bay by the battery and in the drivers foot well all good.

Sadly I do not have a Nanocom.

As long as the vehicle reacts to the fob then it's not immobilised, the immobiliser cuts the starter too unless the passive remobilisation coil doesnt work but even then it should start in the first 30 seconds after unlock command with the fob, so if you unlock with the fob and crank it right away but doesnt start the problem is not the immobiliser but something else, can you check if it sparks? there is no fuel cut off solenoid on the D2. Can you smell fuel at the exhaust while you crank it? Try with some spray in the intake

we have spark on at least 2 cylinders but not checked the other 6 yet.

I will stop looking for a fuel cut off.

we tried easy start but didnt go.

could the fuel pressure reg in the engine bay be failed?

will have somone smell the exhaust.

AFAIK the V8 has the regulator on the pump but that one should not stop it to start, if it doesnt start on spray then IMO it has no sparks but i'm not a V8 expert

to be fair we tester CYL 1 & 2 for spark with a spare spark plug on the lead gronunded to the engine.
we didnt actualy pull the actual plugs from the cylanders.

any thoughts on crank position sensonr?

A faulty crank sensor or missing crank signal to the ECU would definitely stop it from starting, on the V8 you can check that signal with cheap generic scanner too cos the petrol engine management is OBD2 compliant

well thats a blow, we had a generic code reader on it but got no dosed except fuel pump rate error.
we attributed that to not having adjusted the fuel pressure regulator to the correct value.

I have seen a range of values listed between 40 and 60 psi or 2.5 to 4 bar

You should be abe to read live inputs with a scanner and see if you get above 250 rpm while cranking then you know there is a crank signal to the ECU

Pull the plugs and check them I spent ages using a spare sparkplug to trace a double misfire as I had just put a brand new set of champion in my V8 only to find 2 were duff...

today we will pull plugs and test them and also try a diffrent battery / test volt drop on cranking

Thankyou both for your help, you got it dirty plugs, we think from overfuleing.
last time we used it it had the fuel pump and tank seen above but not the pressure

regulator.

we think the pump was outputting above 100 psi when the original pump reg combo would have been about 50psi, our hunch is this led to the lumpy running we had last time out and the coating of all 8 plugs in crud.
cleaned all 8 up and having turned the new pressure regulator down to 50psi she runs sweet again on 1st press of the button.

Great result!!:):):)
