Unusally loud noise at 2000RPM

Hi Folks,

I noticed a louder than normal noise from my TD4 engine at around 2000RPM at 60MPH; when I go back to 50MPH OR increase to 70MPH noise fades away.

Any ideas?

noise...........mmmmmmmmmmmmmm........I cant hear anything, or guess what it might sound like..........is it the missus? is it the windows open? is it the car next to? WHAT NOISE????

Its the sound of the engine as heard from drivers seat with windows up and no misses.

When i go to 60 mph it the engine makes a much louder than usual engine noise for 60mph, plus seems engine/body is shaking, and under allot of pressure.

my mate in work had a calibra that started with funny noises one day... turned out a local stray had found solice in the warm engine bay!!! It was a job to clean up!!

still got the sump guard on? engine bulk head sound proofing still there? crankcase filter changed? blowing exhaust manifold? diesel knock? tesco fuel?

was it a sudden change? did you just get ur ears syringed and everything is really clear now?

Ive yet to service the crankhouse fikter so most likely that. Thanks for advice and humour ;-)
