towbar

hi all i wondered if anyone can help me, what is a plug in and play towbar elec kit? do you have to plug it in everytime you want to use it or just it just plug in and you can leave it? thanks

it plugs into the loom in the boot, on the right side, and you leave it plugged in all the time!

You need to uprate the flasher relay though if it doesn't come with the kit else the dashboard notification won't work.

Yes it does

you either have to have an audible or visual warning that the lights are working on the trailer, by law.

right ok so what do i need to do or get to make it do that? as i have had a quote of 256 quid for it to be fitted, so would rather do it myself tbh

replace the indicator relay with ( Hella part no. is 4DM 003 360-001 ) the towing one or fit an inline audible buzzer.

£256 is really crazy.

It's just a bolt it on job - all the holes are ready.

The loom justs plugs in - no separate wires to join - it's so easy.

As for the relay - you can change it over in less time than it took me write this.

It's just a heavy duty flasher unit to drive the extra bulbs - if you don't fit it the indicators may well flash at the wrong speed or the fuse might blow, when you put the hazards on and all the bulbs are on at once.

Anyway it's a legal requirement.

Can't remember the price - but it's not a lot.

DIY mate - the way to go!

They are on eBay for under £100, a little bit over and you get the uprated relay as well

They appear to be really easy to fit as well
