Help please. My tailgate window will not recalibrate. I have followed all the instuctions. However when I raise the window it goes to the top, beeps and then just goes back down, I have searched the forum and found several threads on recalibration and followed the instructions but they do not work. The battery was off for ages whilst the engine was worked on. Occasionally before work was done the window had come down on its own but usually went back up without a problem.
Could I have a faulty ccu. Has anyone replaced one? Was it easy to get at ?
Any suggestions welcome. Cheers Nigel

You could by a Disco but they are short of useful features, like being able to transport long lenghts of material by opening the back window and letting the excess hang out the back (Within reason of course :)).

A much better and cheaper idea is to check the position limit switch that is associated with the back window regulator. When the power is removed from the car the CCU looses the positional information of the back window, so on restoration of power it applies a open command so to drop the glass out of harms way. To calibrate you must raise the window using the dashboard mounted switch until it reaches the closed position. This is determined by the limit switch. If the switch does not change position then there whill be a bleep and the window will reopen to a safe position, as the window obviously didn't get fully closed.

As this is the repeated result of your window I would first suspect an electro/mechanical problem with the switch, which requires getting the iner trim off the back door and having an investigation within the window regulator assembly.

But, before you do I would have a look at the wire loom umbilical that links the back door to the door frame. I've had wires break in there before and this could be the cause of your problem.

Best of luck.

Cheers I will give that a try.

I have noticed in other threads on ccu issues that locking and unlocking the car a few times sometimes restores normal function. Maybe it resets the ccu or summat? :)

thanks for all the replies. I have sorted it. The window was jamming on the wiring on its way down so not falling to its full extent. When I rectified this by repositioning the wiring and fine tuning the window runners to give more clearance, it calibrated fine. Someone had obviously played around with the tailgate before.

Excellent news and well done. Funny that, I found some one had been poking about in both the rear and drivers doors on my Hippo. The regulators are known to be problematic.

Happy Freelandering.

Have any of u got any advice for me my rear window drops gradually about 2inches at a time tried ccu reset keep getting damn beep straight away had a look nothing seems to be in the way of the mech or damaged, swapped the two relays and nothing it was working fine up until two days ago tried the locking technique even tried pleading with the thing no physical signs of damage or wear.
