do i need to relace my std oem MAF to use a SYNERGY 2A or not and if not what settings can i use on a std MAF thanks

Hi,

No you do not need to replace the standard MAF with a Pierburg one if your original Bosch MAF is still working OK.

With the Bosch MAF you have the choice of settings 1 to 5.
The Pierburg uses settings 6 to 10.

If your MAF does go 'off' at some point in the future then you just fit a Pierburg and then use the settings 6 to 10.

Don't just go for the 'Jeremy Clarkson' setting of maximum.

You may find that number 3 - high torque and medium power - is fine.

I'm using setting 8 with a Pierburg, and have performance plenty good enough for me - no need for extra strain /stress on the motor.

Ron's instructions say to experiment with the 5 settings available and find which you prefer / suits your needs.

Singvogel.

if you are using a standard bosh maf which is functioning within spec it is best not to connect the maf part of the Synergy 2.

I've got the old type Synergy on my Rover 75 diesel (same M47 engine) and that has 3 setting ranges, 1-3 for a good stanard maff, 4 to 6 for a 'tired' standard maff, 7-9 for a pierburgh maf, 10 for naughtiness!

Best thing to do is ring Ron and ask him, he's really rather helpful :)
