helllllooooo,

Here the next problem to annoy me. If I drive my 2001 td4 auto hard, and let it rev above about 3,500 rpm, I hear a noise like a fast pulsed air sound.

also there is sometimes a smell of hot oil lingering once I have slowed down.

I'm guessing that its a hole in a hose somewhere that spews a little oil, that would also explain why there is still lack power on motorway (boosted air escaping)

Has anyone else had this happen?

Thanks

check the hoses between turbo / intercooler / inlet manifold, get someone to put the engine up to 3500rpm, that will help you to find the hiss

on my L-Series the intercooler / inlet manifold hose managed to come off at 3000rpm and plug itself back in on idlle, quite hard to sort it out

Hi,

The common leak-spots are the back of the longest hose - especially where there is a screw-head on the intake duct that the hose can rub against.

Also check carefully the underside of the 90degree bend into the EGR.

Baptista is absolutely right - the original rubber hoses 'balloon' up at high revs but close the leak when the revs drop.

Singvogel.
