hi all im seeking advice as i wish to remove the spare wheel from the back of my freelender and put it inside the back.unfortunately some git has tried to steal it before and being its an 18inch rim,its gonna cost a bomb to replace.im basically looking for advice to remove the whole carrier plus electrics.will removing the brakelight cause any issues when it comes to the MOT and will there be any faults caused.also what size rubber bungs will i need to fill the bolt holes left behind after the carrier removal.

No worries with not having the extra brake light.
Why not make a plate then bolt it through the spare wheel carrier holes and paint it the same colour as your FL

Hi markyboy, and :welcome2: to LZ.

Excuse me for saying so but I think this is not a good idea. The back of a FL is small enough already without having a spare wheel in it. :(

Have you thought about just upping the security of the wheel on the carrier?

There are several ways to do that. I can think of 3 straight off. ;)

Regards, Singvogel. :D

markyboy, just buy and odd 16 inch alloy or 15 inch steel off ebay and stick that on and keep your 18" sport wheel in the shed like i do ;) also get a decent motorbike chain and padlock, thread it thru the wheel and around the back off the spare wheel carrier ;)

why not drill a hole through the midle of the carrier and get a long stud and drill a hole through that at the wheel end just take the cap of the middel of the wheel and put a lock on you may have to take the carrier of to thrd the stud through
hope this helps
