Soft Roof Help!

Hi all,

I have just picked up a second hand soft top for my wife's freelander 1. I know I have to remove the roof bars to take off the hard top but can I operate (open and close) the soft top with the roof bars once fitted? Many thanks in advance.
 
You mean a soft top like this?
