Series IIa mirrors

Can anyone help me shed some light on these mirrors, with the main thing i need to find out issss..... are these the mirrors that bolt through the wing tops, or will these be suitable for the bolt on mounts on the hinges? the first link will be to the mirror and the second to the hinge. cheers guys.

They are bolt through the wing type. They won't bolt through the hinge as you'd have to replace the whole hinge pin with a special pin with mirror mount on top.

If you want hinge mount mirrors you would need series 3 hinges with the pre-drilled holes.

Or you could make a little bracket which bolts behind the series 2 hinges and allows the mirror to sit above the hinge. I imagine this would be rather simple and effective... but not original if building a shiny!

yes but that is why i asked if the mirrors would fit on the hinges in the second link that already have the hinge mount on them?

No idea. but i assume so, it does look right.

sweet, nice one, just so i can sort this guy out like, he's spent over a grand with us so far on exmoor trim stuff an sills n loads of little bits n bobs, but he can't find hinges anywhere, so i really wanna be able to get him the right stuff first time round, and also, d'ya know if there are square (or oblong ish) mirrors that will fit on the hinge mounts to be had anywhere? i'm sure i saw an SIII with some, or would they be the later Defender style hinges?

S3's have rectangular hinges, which have pre-drilled holes for S3/defender style mirror mounting.

S2's have the hinges like you were looking at, but don't have the mounts for the S3 / Defender mirrors

ahh rite i getcha, i hope... still a bit early for me processor i call brain..... i'll just suggest these round mirrors (i think its just 2 of the same mirror lookin at the pic, like you can just loosen an turn 180 to fit t'other side too) an see what he thinks, i'va also bin told that a rear door hing will fit the bottom right side door, an then flip it over for the left lower? does that sound right? as i can't find any other hinges for the lowers of the doors :/ i'll get a link thrown up in a min if i can find the hinge in question

this is that hinge that sez it also fits the right hand lower front door (and is the one i've bin told will just turn over an do the left too) any thoughts on it?
