Backplates are discontinued and getting rare. Be warned. Craddocks quotes £145 each! Dunsfold charge £75 each and only have 4 in stock. I knows cos I’ve had to buy one. Beats me why cos it’s just a pressed shape with some drilled holes.
It might be because the tooling needed to creat the dished shape no longer exists and retooling is expensive.

Probably correct. Just hope I don’t need to replace others. At the rear they get covered in road crud but no oil like the differential so over time get corroded. I’m dealing with a zombie rear axle set up. Busted half shaft but each side different splines. Ordered post. 1980 brake kit only to realise it’s fitted with pre 1980 cylinders and pads (1983)! The bastid shaft broke at the wheel end and driving it slowly home still trashed the stub axle and bearing. Having to rebuild the whole stub axle and brake plate. Comes to around £250 for all the parts.

Yes 59 per wheel , it's a complete assembly to included shoes cylinder and plate nos so excellent price . But as I say price gone up 3 fold now.

Well
Still trouble with the Brakes
I've bit the bullet and ordered some genuine shoes.
Been messed about by pablanchards.lrseries whatever they call themself ?! Who had advertised the complete backplate including cylinder and shoes, but realised they had the wrong price and only sent back plates, adjusting there website accordingly . Refuse to send the cylinders and shoes , even though the receipt says complete set !!
Now saying they don't have the part, which is bs.
I've given up dealing with them, they don't want to no, but not a lot I can do.
Hopefully the new shoes will do the trick

PADDOCKS .... ya can't beat good old Paddocks ...

Yep paddocks have served me well over the years .
Well the new shoes are ferodo so fingers crossed they will be good.

And I hate to say Britpart have the kits, but not backplates. There's no such thing as a backplate kit. There's hub and brake kits and the backplate is seperate including bolts n gasket etc.

Well problem solved fitted the ferodo shoes as suggested and the drum spins freely!! Sometimes worth paying extra for quality parts.!!
Picture is ferodo shoes fitted with trw lying next to them. Different shapes

I've got to redo my rears, ferodo look just the job.

Edit: where did the ferodo shoes come from, Paddocks?

This is so annoying, we are all very dependent on after-market parts so its really important that the manufacturers make them to spec and the suppliers check them. We often don't have acess to the drawings so you have to take it on trust that the part is correct, especially when the orignal part is corroded or missing.

Absolutely. And the patten parts can be as expensive as the genuine were in their day, so they should be useable at the very least!

I went for Mintex shoes and a Delphi rear cylinder to fix my latest dramas. I just can't put any faith in £6 a set drum shoes  not with that reputation. Genuine ones however are a bit OTT :D

Did you sort this issue? I have the exact same with new Delphi brake cylinders. The trailing shoe bottom spring isn’t enough to force the cylinder back into its housing. It’s an early 88 S3 with 10”. Thanks
